The journey of Autumn Foods started in 1998 on the outskirts of Norwich. Three food trade professionals, Kevin Shewell – from a ready-meals background – Paul Mullen and Steve Todd – from the turkey industry – began to build a service-driven, poultry supply business. Autumn Foods is a plc but is not listed on the Stock Exchange - all the shares are held by the Directors and staff.
The Autumn Foods plc recipe for success is to be flexible: to listen to clients’ needs and respond to demand. We are operating in a business that is continually changing - changes in demand, changes in market conditions. By staying light on our feet, we are in a position to be able to take advantage of the opportunities that the market offers. The products are sourced mainly from the UK, Hungary, Poland, Italy, South America and Asia.
Among the east European plants are Indykpol, long established in Poland and suppliers of Autumn Food’s Golden Turkey brand, and Gallicoop, a vertically-integrated Hungarian, operation recently attaining major UK retailer-approved supplier status.
In 2007, the company bought and tastefully renovated a barns complex in the small Norfolk village of East Tuddenham to provide the extra space required by the growing company.
